Local Cutting Edge Barber Pairs with Amazon to Support Cancer Research
SEATTLE – With skills as sharp as their straight-edge razors, ten of Weldon Barber’s top men’s grooming experts helped AmazonLocal employees get “Movember” off to a clean start. By starting November off with a freshly-shaved face, men all over the world raise money and awareness for men’s health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer research, by abstaining from shaving for the entire month.
Co-founder and President of Weldon Barber, Suzette Nordstrom, was inspired by the moustache-growing phenomenon, having had both her father and father-in-law fight the prostate cancer battle. Nordstrom states, “It’s a great cause, and I’m just so happy we, as a company, are able to provide a service to the men participating.” In addition to providing over 100 free professional straight edge razor shaves at the Kick-Off Party, the seven Weldon Barber locations around the Seattle and Spokane areas will be offering discounted shaves on Saturday, 1 December.
Amazon employee and enthusiastic “Mo Bro” Brad Ruppert, who is leading his Movember team in funds raised, participated in the Amazon and Weldon event: “Everyone had an amazing time and had nothing but exceptional praise for your barbers and the service you provided.”
Weldon Barber is a locally-owned men’s barber with four locations in the Seattle area and three locations in Spokane. Weldon specializes in providing quality haircuts, shaves, and grooming for the modern man.

Wedon Barber Seattle is thrilled to have had the opportunity to participate in “Movember,” a joint effort by the Prostate Cancer Foundation and Lance Armstrong’s “Live Strong” charities. The goal of “Movember” is to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer.
It’s estimated that one in 6 American Men will get Prostate Cancer in their lifetime. In fact, it is one of the major causes of mortality in US men, second only to lung cancer. Because of these startleing statistics, we are proud to be the Seattle barber to get this fundraiser going with our generous participants.
Weldon barber Seattle would like to thank all of our “Mo Bros and Mo Sistas” for their efforts. Let’s support them and make a difference in the battle against prostate cancer.
About The Campaign – Weldon Barber Seattle
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.
Once registered at www.movember.com, men start Movember 1st clean shaven. For the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.
Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.
At the end of the month, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas celebrate their gallantry and valor by either throwing their own Movember party or attending one of the infamous Gala Partés held around the world by Movember, for Movember.
The Movember Effect: Awareness & Education, Survivorship, Research
The funds raised in the US support prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and our men’s health partners, the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG, the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Together, the three channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programs in line with our strategic goals in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research.

Global Action Plan
Movember – a global movement
Since its humble beginnings in Melbourne Australia, Movember has grown to become a truly global movement inspiring more than 1.1 Million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to participate with formal campaigns in Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada, the UK, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, South Africa and Ireland. In addition, Movember is aware of Mo Bros and Mo Sistas supporting the campaign and men’s health cause across the globe, from Russia to Dubai, Hong Kong to Antarctica, Rio de Janeiro to Mumbai, and everywhere in between.
No matter the country or city, Movember will continue to work to change established habits and attitudes men have about their health, to educate men about the health risks they face, and to act on that knowledge, thereby increasing the chances of early detection, diagnosis and effective treatment.
In 2010, over 64,500 US Mo Bros and Mo Sistas got on board, raising $7.5 million USD.

Benefits of a straight razor shave at Weldon Barber Seattle area locations
Why get a straight razor shave at Weldon Barber Seattle, Kirkland, Issaquah, or Mill Creek? First of all, unless you want to resemble Brian “The Beard” Wilson of the 2010 World Series Championship team the San Francisco Giants (and some guys do), some degree of shaving is necessary.
As an interesting pit of history, let’s look at the safety razor and the development of the electric shaver. In 1904 a US patent was granted to King C. Gillette for a ‘safety razor.’ As a salesman who was also an inventor, he was interested in creating something that was effective and safe, but perhaps more importantly, purchased over and over again by satisfied customers! Col. Jacob Schick, while exploring Alaska and British Columbia after his retirement from the 22nd US Infantry, found it quite difficult and unpleasant to shave. He vowed to create a dry shaver, which went on the market in 1929
You probably shave with a safety razor or electric shaver. The problem is that both systems are problematic. You’re likely to get cuts and nicks with your safety razor, plus there is all the environmental concern with throw-away cartridges and plastic razors. Unfortunately, the ‘modern’ electric shaver does a relatively poor job. Plus you may get razor burn, ingrown hairs, or razor ‘bumps.’ Continue reading “Straight Razor Shave at Weldon Barber Seattle Area Locations” »

Weldon Barber Seattle Daymakers
At Weldon Barbershops in the Seattle area, we share Aveda’s mission, ‘… to care for the world we live in, from the products we use to the ways we give back to society.’ And we strive to make your haircuts and styling experiences with us ‘transformational!’ But what if we at Weldon Barber, along with you, could take it a step farther and change the world we live in simply by ‘making someone’s day!’
Staff at Weldon Barber in the Seattle Area Recently Learned About David Wagner … and the Experience that Changed His Life
It only takes a moment to make someone’s day – to become a daymaker – and some times those moments even change lives as I discovered a number of years ago. I was working in my salon one day when a client came in to have her hair styled. I was surprised to see her, since it was right in the middle of her five-week period between hair cuts. I figured that she must have an important social engagement, so I asked her about her evening plans. Continue reading “Weldon Barber Seattle & Daymakers!” »
