Benefits of a straight razor shave at Weldon Barber Seattle area locations
Why get a straight razor shave at Weldon Barber Seattle, Kirkland, Issaquah, or Mill Creek? First of all, unless you want to resemble Brian “The Beard” Wilson of the 2010 World Series Championship team the San Francisco Giants (and some guys do), some degree of shaving is necessary.
As an interesting pit of history, let’s look at the safety razor and the development of the electric shaver. In 1904 a US patent was granted to King C. Gillette for a ‘safety razor.’ As a salesman who was also an inventor, he was interested in creating something that was effective and safe, but perhaps more importantly, purchased over and over again by satisfied customers! Col. Jacob Schick, while exploring Alaska and British Columbia after his retirement from the 22nd US Infantry, found it quite difficult and unpleasant to shave. He vowed to create a dry shaver, which went on the market in 1929
You probably shave with a safety razor or electric shaver. The problem is that both systems are problematic. You’re likely to get cuts and nicks with your safety razor, plus there is all the environmental concern with throw-away cartridges and plastic razors. Unfortunately, the ‘modern’ electric shaver does a relatively poor job. Plus you may get razor burn, ingrown hairs, or razor ‘bumps.’ Continue reading “Straight Razor Shave at Weldon Barber Seattle Area Locations” »

Visit Weldon Barber Seattle for Aveda Men’s Pure-Formance™
Aveda and Weldon Barber Seattle have introduced ShaveCream and Dual Action After Shave, because men are “different by nature.”

According to Kurt Kueffner, Director of Men’s Business Development for Aveda, “Men’s skin is clinically proven to be different by nature than women’s skin. Men have a weaker skin barrier function, a 25% higher collagen density, a higher rate of moisture evaporation and higher sebum production than women.” Aveda addresses these concerns and has developed formulas specifically geared to meet men’s distinct needs and producing real results.
These products make shaving friendlier – both to a man’s face AND to the environment. Aveda’s Pure-Formance™ ShaveCream and Dual Action After Shave are more than 97% naturally derived and packed with plant-powered ingredients. The phyto-active blend includes phycosaccharide from seaweed extract, licorice root, sage extract, plai oil and tamanu oil.
In addition, the Aveda Men Pure-Formance™ Shave Cream and Dual Action Aftershave include argan oil, a conditioner that is sourced from a women’s cooperative in South Morocco. So, your purchase helps to preserve the endangered Argan Forest

Weldon Barber Seattle – The Purple Power Tie?
It’s no doubt that one of the reasons that you visit Weldon Barber Seattle is because you know that one of the key components to maintaining an image of power is being well groomed and having an updated style.
However, the symbols of power change over time. Once you’ve received that trendy cut at Weldon Barber Seattle, take a look at this article from Esquire.com – the power tie may no longer be red:
The Soft Power of Obama’s State of the Union Tie
January 26, 2011 at 11:13 AM by The Fashion Editors
Maybe it’s a good thing, or quite possibly a bad thing, that the most controversial thing about Tuesday night’s State of the Union address was the color of the president’s tie. It was purple (or if you want to get technical about it, lavender), and as much as we admire his symbolic commitment to bipartisanship — no red or blue for this guy — there’s some substance to his style.
A bit of history: As far back as Roman empire, the rich and powerful would show they were rich and powerful by wearing clothes dyed in Tyrian purple, a shade derived from the expensive and rare boiled shells of the murex sea snail. After the whole decline and fall debacle, the color was taken up by generations of European royalty who’d wear robes in imperial purple. Ever since, variations of purple have been synonymous with wealth, status, and valor — see the Purple Heart, created in 1932 to honor American soldiers who have been wounded or killed while serving in battle. Aveda’s plan to recycle bottle caps which fill our landfills, endanger animals, and damage our environment:
Weldon Barber Seattle – By now most of us have gotten used to sorting through our garbage to determine which items we can recycle and which will be going to our overwhelmed land fills. Possibly the most frustrating part of this is the fact that the lids to the bottles we use regularly are not recyclable in most areas.
Aveda has stepped up to the plate to launch an educational recycling program involving teachers and parents to teach children about recycling and engage the community in disposing of these nuisance bottle tops that pose a threat to nature and our environment. Check out the details of the program here:
