As an interesting pit of history, let’s look at the safety razor and the development of the electric shaver. In 1904 a US patent was granted to King C. Col. Jacob Schick, while exploring Alaska and British Columbia after his retirement from the 22nd  US Infantry, found it quite difficult and unpleasant to shave. He vowed to create a dry shaver, which went on the market in 1929

You probably shave with a safety razor or electric shaver. The problem is that both systems are problematic. You’re likely to get cuts and nicks with your safety razor, plus there is all the environmental concern with throw-away cartridges and plastic razors. Unfortunately, the ‘modern’ electric shaver does a relatively poor job.
